This monographic course includes reading activities and discussion of articles and essays regarding current events such as: demographics, issues linked to longer life expectancy, poverty, maternity and paternity leave, housing poverty, unemployment, crime and justice.
Specialized lexicon and terminology will be extracted from the texts selected from classroom activities and for student self-study use.
Texts will also be analyzed in their morpho-syntactic and lexical features. Special attention will be devoted to, among others: compound nouns and premodification, uncountable nouns, linking words and phrases, phrasal and prepositional verbs, terms to describe numerical information and quantitative data.
